The Turkish Ambassador’s Visit to the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside: A Promising Roadmap for Investment Cooperation and Direct Technical Exchange

The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Ambassador Nuh Yılmaz, conducted an extensive field tour of the major industrial facilities in Damascus and its countryside. He was accompanied by Engineer Mohammad Ayman al-Mawlawi, Chairman of the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside, along with several board members of the Chamber. The tour aimed to outline a promising new roadmap for investment and technical exchange between the two countries, starting from the heart of vital productive sectors.
The delegation visited prominent industrial strongholds across various sectors. In the food industry, the delegation visited the "Viscosa" facility for biscuits, cakes, and chocolate, as well as the "Al-Hamwi" food products facility (Hamwi Coffee). In the textile sector, they visited the "Talis" ready-made garment facility and the "Tabreek" (Al-Tabba'a) facility for fabric printing, dyeing, and finishing. The tour concluded with a visit to the "Madar" Group, which specializes in aluminium, shutters, and glass within the engineering industries sector.{C}
During the tour, Ambassador Yılmaz emphasized that Syrian industry remains the backbone of the country's economy despite energy challenges and successive crises. He expressed optimism at seeing Turkish-speaking Syrian cadres and technicians inside the factories, considering it clear evidence of the transfer of expertise and training from Turkey to directly benefit local production. The Ambassador also noted that the era of importing machinery through international intermediaries, such as Greece and Italy, has ended. He stressed that Syrian industrialists are now capable of directly accessing Turkish exhibitions and machinery without political obstacles, anticipating an upcoming economic boom linking Syrian growth with Turkish technical advancement.
For his part, Engineer Mohammad Ayman al-Mawlawi praised the success of the visit, noting that it revealed the scale of technical development and full automation in Syrian factories, particularly in the food sector. Al-Mawlawi pointed out that most of the modern production lines in these factories are Turkish-made, which reinforces confidence in Turkish technology as a primary supplier. He expected this step to yield the establishment of joint industrial facilities in the near future, expressing the Syrian people's appreciation for continuous Turkish support.{C}
