The Leather and Footwear Industries Committee held its regular meeting at the headquarters of the Aleppo Chamber of Industry, in the presence of Engineer Ahmed Mahdi Al-Khader, Secretary of the Chamber, and Rafat Al-Ammo, Board Member.During the meeting, the current status of the leather industries and the requirements for their development were discussed. Industrialists demanded lowering customs duties on raw materials and production inputs, while raising them on imported footwear to protect the national industry. They also requested the designation and allocation of a specific zone for the footwear and leather industry within the Sheikh Najjar Industrial City, alongside adopting specialized laboratories to enforce standard specifications on imported footwear.At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees called for the formation of an expanded committee comprising all chambers of industry and the federation to discuss the challenges and problems facing the footwear and leather industry
