Syriatex 2026 Apparel Exhibition Launches in Damascus with 250 Exhibitors and Wide Arab Participation
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Industry, the activities of the Syrian Specialized Export Apparel Exhibition, "Syriatex" for the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 season, kicked off. The event is organized by the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside and the Chamber of Industry of Aleppo at the Damascus Fairgrounds, featuring a broad official, diplomatic, and economic presence.
During the opening, Eng. Basel Abdul Hanan, Assistant Minister of Industry, emphasized that organizing this exhibition continues the success of previous editions. He noted that the numbers reflect this growth, as participation increased from 175 companies last year to 250 companies today. He pointed out that according to the latest ministry statistics, the apparel sector is experiencing a significant recovery. He explained that comparing exports from the first month until August of 2025 with the same period in 2026 reveals a 118% increase in garment exports.
The Director General of the International Fairs and Markets Evaluation underscored the importance and uniqueness of this exhibition, stating that supporting the garment and textile industry is an investment in the Syrian people, a generator of job opportunities, and a recovery driver for the national economy. He stressed the collective goal of driving national products into more international markets, enabling Syrian industrialists to work and innovate further.
For his part, the Chairman of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce highlighted that "Syriatex" is characterized by 100% local products with zero foreign items, aimed at promoting and supporting national industry to boost the domestic economy—a goal jointly pursued by the Chambers of Aleppo and Damascus. He added that more than 550 businessmen and merchants from 10 Arab countries were invited and hosted to conclude export contracts and build genuine partnerships.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside affirmed that the significance of "Syriatex" stems from Syria's historical excellence in the textile and apparel industry. Syria was among the first Arab countries to enter this field, maintaining substantial export volumes.
Following the opening remarks, the Assistant Minister, along with attendees, toured the exhibition halls and pavilions, reviewing the displays and discussing various economic topics with the participants.
The exhibition activities will run until September 26, welcoming visitors daily from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Free transportation is provided for visitors from Bab Touma and the Cham Palace Hotel
