Syrian-Jordanian Talks in Damascus to Strengthen Trade Cooperation and Overcome Investment Obstacles

The President of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nashat al-Rifai, received the President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce, Senator Khalil El-Haj Tawfiq, at the Nasib border crossing during his visit to Syria yesterday, accompanying him to the capital, Damascus.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Abul Huda al-Laham (referred as Alaa al-Ali), at the Federation’s headquarters. The meeting was attended by the President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Dr. Mazen Dirowan, the Vice President of the Federation and President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Issam Ghreiwati, and the President's Advisor and Board Member, Dr. Anas al-Bou. Both sides discussed ways to enhance joint commercial and industrial cooperation, resolve difficulties facing various economic sectors, and activate agreements and memorandums of understanding to transform them into practical projects that boost trade and investment.

A further meeting was held with the President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Issam Ghreiwati, at the Chamber’s headquarters. They discussed enhancing trade exchange between the two brotherly countries within the framework of a new phase of economic cooperation. The discussions emphasized the need to remove obstacles, develop regulations, and reconsider customs duties to achieve fairness and enhance competitiveness, while highlighting the importance of involving the private sector in formulating solutions
