Syratex Exhibition: A New Strategy for Structuring National Exports and Public-Private Partnership

In a strong indication of ending the phase of temporary solutions and moving toward a comprehensive structuring of national exports, the "Syratex" exhibition has transformed into a platform for direct dialogue between leaders of the industrial and export sectors and the exhibitors. The field tour by a delegation representing the Syrian Exporters Council and the Chambers of Industry of Damascus & its Countryside, and Aleppo, resulted in placing the files of reducing fees and customs, and simplifying financial transfers, at the top of the partnership priorities between the public and private sectors.

The delegation included Mr. Mohammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi, President of the Damascus and its Countryside Chamber of Industry; Bilal Al-Rays and Mohammad Zuhair Al-Hamli, Vice Presidents of the Syrian Exporters Council; Adham Al-Tabbaa, Treasurer of the Chamber; Anas Traboulsi, Board Member of the Damascus and its Countryside Chamber of Industry; and Mohammad Zizan, Board Member of the Aleppo Chamber of Industry. The delegation toured the exhibition halls, holding direct meetings with exhibitors and industrialists to review the production reality and market needs.

Discussions focused on addressing obstacles hindering the efficiency of foreign trade by establishing flexible mechanisms to reduce shipping costs and customs duties, and simplifying procedures for settling export revenues to ensure the smooth flow of goods and the sustainability of cash flows. This was alongside recommending adherence to international quality standards and modern packaging requirements to enhance the competitiveness of products in Arab and regional markets, as well as striving for the active participation and presence of Syrian products in international exhibitions.

There were also demands to give special attention to the textile sector, as it is the largest driver of job opportunities and the main locomotive of the national industry. Participants unanimously agreed on the need to move past temporary solutions and immediately transition toward an organized and sustainable export model based on the partnership between the public and private sectors, which protects the local product and ensures its confident access to global markets
