Dr. Mazen Deirwan, Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, is participating in the 114th session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 1 to 12, 2026. Dr. Deirwan represents employers within the official delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Dr. Hind Kabawat, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor.Representatives from 187 member states are participating in this conference to discuss three main pillars: First, decent work issues in the platform economy, aiming to adopt the first international instrument to protect workers' rights in digital labor platforms, including job classification and algorithmic management. Second, advancing the transformative agenda for gender equality at work, focusing on closing wage and employment gaps, addressing gender-based violence, and promoting work-life balance policies. Third, tripartite participatory social dialogue to discuss the role of inclusive social dialogue in policy-making, confronting economic crises, and strengthening investment in institutional capacity building.
