The Assistant Minister of Economy and Industry for Internal Trade, Ms. Eng. Rasha Karkouki, received Dr. Mazen Deirwan, Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry. The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdul Majid Al-Abdo, Director of Commercial and Industrial Property Protection at the General Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, and Khaldoun Dado, Director of the Federation.The meeting addressed the mechanisms used for registering trademarks and companies, highlighting the large influx of registration applications following the liberation and the transition to a competitive free market economy.Dr. Mazen emphasized the request to facilitate and expedite the issuance of trademarks and company registrations, alongside simplifying procedures to encourage investors to enter Syrian markets, while ensuring strict compliance with rules and laws.For her part, Ms. Eng. Rasha Karkouki explained the role of the General Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, its operational procedures, and the importance of the current phase given the high demand for registering famous trademarks and companies, which often involves overlapping or similar names. Furthermore, Mr. Abdul Majid Al-Abdo outlined the legal procedures and restrictions followed by the Directorate of Commercial and Industrial Property Protection. He advised applicants to personally follow up on their registration phases to check for any existing restrictions or similarities regarding the same trademark, in order to save time and effort.At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to hold a panel discussion at the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry to explain the ministry's workflow, its digital transformation plans for registering trademarks and companies, and to answer queries raised by industrialists
