Legislative Partnership Between Damascus Chamber of Industry and the People's Assembly to Support Local Products and Accelerate Economic Recovery

Within diligent efforts to accelerate the pace of economic recovery and restructure regulations supporting local products, the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside met with the Economic Affairs Committee of the People's Assembly. The meeting aimed to establish a joint action plan ensuring the Chamber's participation in presenting its observations on various laws related to industry and the economy before their final approval.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Lina Aizouki, Chairwoman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Assembly, along with several committee members. Representing the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside were Eng. Muhammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi, Chairman of the Chamber; Mr. Abdullah Al-Zayed, Secretary of the Chamber and Member of the People's Assembly; and Mr. Adham Al-Tabaa, Treasurer of the Chamber. The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry also participated, represented by Dr. Mazen Deirwan, Chairman of the Federation, alongside Mr. Ziad Oubari, representing the industrial sector in Aleppo.

Discussions centered around draft amendments and the development of economic laws and legislations to be presented to the People's Assembly. The Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside had previously participated in the ministerial committees formed for these laws to ensure they become more flexible and responsive to the requirements of the current stage. This guarantees the protection of national industry and provides an incentive-driven production environment that serves manufacturing interests, contributing to a comprehensive and sustainable recovery of the national industry across all Syrian governorates.

The committee members expressed their responsiveness to the Chamber's requests, emphasizing that there will be ongoing cooperation in this field. They requested the preparation of a memorandum covering the various topics, draft laws, and decrees that will be presented to the People's Assembly in the future
