Lattakia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Returns to ASCAME After a 14-Year Absence
Mr. Anas Deeb Joud, President of the Lattakia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated in the Executive Committee meeting of the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME). The meeting was held in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy, on October 1 and 2, 2026, as part of the MedaCity 2026 events. Mr. Yasser Hamoui, Mayor of Jableh, also participated virtually via video conference.
The meeting marked a significant milestone, signaling the return of Syrian chambers of commerce to the association after a 14-year absence, opening new horizons for economic cooperation and international partnerships.
During his address, Mr. Joud reviewed the opportunities for economic recovery and investment in Syria, emphasizing the strategic importance of Lattakia and its port, its role in maritime trade and transport, and the necessity of strengthening cooperation with Mediterranean countries.
He also expressed his gratitude to Mr. Josep Santacreu, President of the Catalonia Chamber of Commerce (Barcelona), for his support and encouragement regarding the return of the Syrian chambers. Furthermore, he thanked Mr. Maurizio de Pascale, President of the Cagliari-Oristano Chamber of Commerce, for the warm welcome and excellent organization.
This participation aligns with the Chamber's strategy to enhance its international presence and build economic partnerships that support the business community and development in Lattakia
