Lattakia – May 24, 2026On Sunday morning, the President of the Lattakia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Anas Joud, received His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Syria at the Chamber's headquarters. The meeting was attended by several board members, along with Dr. Essam Soufi and Mr. Bashar Kilo, members of the Executive Bureau of Lattakia Governorate, and Mr. Adib Joud from the Italian Consulate.The discussion focused on ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries, opening new channels of cooperation between the Syrian and Italian business communities to drive investment in the coming period.Both sides reviewed several vital proposals, most notably:Institutional Twinning: Studying the possibility of signing a twinning agreement between the Lattakia Chamber and an Italian counterpart to exchange expertise and develop investment opportunities.Facilitating Business Mobility: Highlighting the importance of easing visa procedures for Syrian commercial, industrial, and economic figures, given the significance of the Italian market as a strategic partner.Transportation and Tourism: Exploring ways to revitalize joint commercial and tourism transport to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers.For his part, the Italian Ambassador emphasized his country's commitment to rebuilding bridges of trust and cooperation with the Syrian business community, noting Italy's interest in expanding economic communication.
