The Jordanian Investors Association (JIA) welcomed at its headquarters in King Abdullah II Industrial City, the Chairman of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nashat Khaled Al-Rifai. The visit aimed to discuss horizons for economic and investment cooperation and to enhance networking between the business communities in Jordan and Syria.The delegation was received by the Chairman of the Jordanian Investors Association, Mr. Mujahed Al-Rajabi, board members Mr. Abdul Hafiz Muwaffaq and Mr. Nizar Habboub, and the JIA Executive Director, Dr. Haneen Hassouneh, in the presence of Mr. Thaer Al-Matarneh, Economic Recovery Team Leader at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Jordan.The two sides discussed ways to enhance communication and networking among Jordanian and Syrian businessmen, industrialists, and investors. They also focused on developing joint cooperation opportunities to stimulate economic and trade relations between the two countries, leveraging the capabilities and expertise available within the private sector on both sides.The meeting highlighted the significant role of Syrian investors in the Jordanian industrial sector, particularly in King Abdullah II Industrial City and the Sahab area, emphasizing the value they add to several industrial and productive sectors.During the meeting, the Jordanian Investors Association reviewed its experience in implementing training and employment programs and supporting the labor market in cooperation with international organizations and agencies. Additionally, they discussed the potential for developing future cooperation that benefits both the Jordanian and Syrian sides, in alignment with the nature of the programs and the requirements of supporting partners.They also explored opportunities to benefit from the JIA’s expertise and programs in vocational and technical training, employment, connecting job seekers with the industrial sector, and supporting enterprises and investors.The meeting concluded with several practical recommendations, most notably:Working on drafting an initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jordanian Investors Association and the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry to frame future cooperation.Enhancing networking among investors, businessmen, and industrialists in Jordan and Syria, and creating direct channels for communication and sharing opportunities and information.Studying cooperation opportunities in training, employment programs, and economic and developmental projects implemented by the Association in cooperation with local and international entities, according to the approved frameworks for each project.Exploring trade and investment cooperation opportunities and exchanging expertise between industrial facilities and companies on both sides.Organizing an official visit for a delegation from the Jordanian Investors Association to Daraa Governorate, in response to the invitation extended by the Chairman of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the JIA Chairman and board members.Following up on the preparation of a joint framework that defines priority areas for cooperation and executive steps to build upon during the upcoming phase.At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of transforming communication between private sector institutions in both countries into practical partnerships and initiatives. These efforts aim to boost trade and investment movement, support the industrial sector, and create new economic and employment opportunities that serve the mutual interests of Jordan and Syria
