Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, represented by the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, participated in a symposium held in Daraa Governorate today. The event focused on exploring ways to enhance the investment climate and support development opportunities. It was attended by the Governor of Daraa, Mr. Anwar Taha Al-Zoubi, the Head of the Syrian Investment Authority, Ahmad Rawad Ramadan, alongside several provincial officials, and a large gathering of investors, industrialists, and traders.The Governor explained that Daraa possesses many promising opportunities that qualify it to attract investments, contributing to raising its economic standard and revitalizing its reality. He emphasized that all efforts will be exerted and all available capabilities deployed to overcome any obstacles hindering investment growth.For his part, the Head of the Syrian Investment Authority stated that the authority is working on directing investments toward the most suitable regions and sectors. He stressed the importance of each governorate having its own investment identity that aligns with its nature and needs. Meanwhile, an investment map is being built across Syria to transform the country into a factory that generates opportunities. He also highlighted the importance of turning Daraa into an attractive investment environment and noted the necessity of local citizens' participation in this vital field, as they represent the primary capital in the development and investment process. He added that several diverse projects will be launched across the governorate and mentioned that the authority is working on simplifying procedures for investors and facilitating their access to investment services.In turn, representatives of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry offered several qualitative interventions. They discussed the slow licensing procedures, the multiplicity of authorities involved, and the urgent need for a "single-window" system to expedite processes. They highlighted the obstacle of not granting administrative licenses to industrial investment facilities, urging a swift solution to help attract investments. The interventions also touched upon the importance of establishing handicraft and industrial zones to accommodate small and medium enterprises (SMEs), given their role in creating job opportunities, especially for returnees to the homeland. Furthermore, they addressed the rigidity and lack of flexibility in the tax and financial environment regarding startup projects, as well as the difficulties and delays encountered in opening bank accounts, among other challenges.The Governor and the Head of the Authority responded to all interventions raised by the Chamber, industrialists, and merchants. They reaffirmed that all available resources will be utilized, and the necessary legislation will be prepared to enhance the investment environment and support economic development.It is worth noting that the attendees from the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry included the Chairman of the Board, Nashat Al-Rifai, his deputies Ahmad Al-Mahamid and Youssef Al-Masalmeh, the Secretary Mohammad Al-Omari, along with Board members Eng.
