Industrial cities in Syria represent a fundamental pillar for supporting local production and stimulating investment, amid government efforts to expand existing cities, rehabilitate damaged ones, and provide a suitable environment with integrated infrastructure to attract investments and revitalize the national economy.Ahmad Kurdi, Director of Industrial Cities at the Ministry of Economy and Industry, confirmed that industrial cities in Syria are witnessing a new phase of expansion, development, and investment attraction, in parallel with plans to revive cities that suffered significant damage over the past years. In a statement, Kurdi explained that existing industrial cities serve as essential hubs for productive activity, providing a favorable environment for investors through the necessary plots, services, and infrastructure to establish facilities. He noted that investment demand is particularly concentrated in the cities of Adra in Reef Dimashq (rural Damascus), Hassia in Homs, and Sheikh Najjar in Aleppo. He added that work is underway to develop other cities, such as Bab al-Hawa in Idlib and Al-Rai in Aleppo, and to reorganize and revive the industrial city in Deir ez-Zor, aligning with directives to support the national economy, enhance local production, and increase investment and export opportunities. He pointed out that industries in Syria are mainly concentrated in six sectors: textile industries and their complements (such as dyeing and printing), chemical, engineering, food, pharmaceutical, and cement industries. He emphasized that efforts are ongoing to offer additional privileges in the coming period to enhance investment attractiveness and support the expansion of industrial activity
