Hassan Daaboul: Our Partnership with the Government is Real.. We Look Forward to Deeper Cooperation with "Energy" and "Customs
Mr. Hassan Daaboul, Board Member of the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside, confirmed the depth of the partnership and active dialogue connecting the private and government sectors. Speaking during a panel discussion at the "National Dialogue Conference for the Private Sector," he pointed out that the Chamber is represented in several joint committees and bodies with the Ministries of Economy, Industry, and Finance.
Daaboul revealed ongoing workshops and discussions to amend the historic Industry Encouragement Law of 1958. He noted that these amendments are being conducted in a spirit of partnership between the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the private sector, ensuring that the visions and feedback of industrialists are fully considered within regulatory frameworks.
Evaluating government performance, Daaboul praised the excellent cooperation with the Ministries of Economy, Industry, and Finance, while calling for enhanced coordination mechanisms with other sectors. He expressed his anticipation for greater engagement from the Ministry of Energy and the Directorate General of Customs, as they directly impact the daily challenges faced by industrial facilities. He stressed the vital role of chambers and federations as essential conduits for conveying the full voice of the business sector to the government, ensuring the formulation of economic decisions that support production and drive growth.
Regarding the current board of directors, he transparently confirmed that it represents nearly 90% of industrialists across various sectors. Members were selected with extreme care to guarantee competence and serve the public interest away from personal motives.
On communication mechanisms, Daaboul explained that the Chamber relies on a system of specialized sectoral committees (engineering, food, chemical, and textile). These committees hold continuous meetings to monitor industrialists' issues and complaints, drafting them into appropriate legal and technical frameworks to be raised to the relevant ministries for resolution
