The visit of the Syrian economic delegation—which included the President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Ala’a al-Ali, and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Mr. Muhammad Yassin Houriya—to the Republic of Uzbekistan constituted an important milestone for strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Participating in the delegation were the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nashaat al-Rifai; Board Member, Mr. Ahmed al-Zoubi; and General Assembly member, Mr. Qasim al-Masalmeh. During the meeting held at the Bukhara Region Forum, Mr. al-Rifai delivered an introductory speech about Daraa Governorate, its industrial, agricultural, and commercial potentials, and the opportunities for cooperation and partnership in various sectors. The representatives of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry engaged in numerous activities, manifested in building relations for future cooperation with many businessmen and members of chambers of commerce in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The visit witnessed a meeting between the Syrian delegation and His Excellency the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade in the Republic of Uzbekistan, where ways to elevate trade relations between the two sides were discussed. Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to enhance economic cooperation and expand trade relations between the business communities in both countries. Additionally, a twinning agreement was signed between the Homs Chamber of Commerce and the Tashkent Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish a sustainable cooperation framework between the two chambers in various economic and commercial fields.
The Syrian economic delegation reviewed the latest energy and electrical engineering technologies in Tashkent and visited the "CRAFERS" factory, which specializes in advanced confectionery production technologies. They also visited the city of Bukhara, where they reviewed the activities of the "Mirghantex" cotton and textile complex. Furthermore, they visited the production complex of "Bukhara Agrocluster DZZ" LLC, which has a daily processing capacity of up to 60 tons of milk, and observed advanced technologies at the leading "Artel" company in Bukhara, discussing prospects for industrial and investment cooperation.
The delegation participated in the high-level Syrian-Uzbek Business Forum held in Bukhara, which brought together more than 200 senior businessmen and representatives of companies and economic institutions from both countries. The forum discussed mechanisms for establishing a regular institutional trade dialogue and joint work to launch new cooperation projects, establishing a new qualitative phase of the Syrian-Uzbek economic partnership.
