Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Discusses Investments, Market Revitalization, and the Nasib Border Crossing

During its regular monthly meeting today, chaired by Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, the Board of Directors of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed a range of issues concerning the affairs of traders and industrialists, as well as the chamber's operations and investments.
The board addressed the development of the chamber's existing training center in cooperation with various supporting entities. This initiative aims to empower youth to enter the labor market, while emphasizing the importance of exerting more effort to enhance commercial relations with neighboring countries for the benefit of local development and the national economy.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the importance of identifying investment opportunities for the chamber. For instance, a proposal was made to look for a suitably located plot of land—either along the Damascus-Daraa International Highway or elsewhere—to establish an investment project that would generate viable returns and boost the chamber's resources. The secretary was tasked with following up on this matter and preparing the necessary requirements.
The board praised the growing commercial activity in the Central Market located in the Al-Mahatta neighborhood of Daraa city, noting the opening of additional shops. The board called upon owners of other commercial premises to initiate the rehabilitation of their shops and resume business, especially since the market is currently experiencing highly active shopping traffic.
Additionally, the board reviewed the active movement at the Nasib border crossing with Jordan. They highlighted that the president and members of the chamber's board of directors remain in constant communication with the crossing's management to overcome any obstacles, improve services provided to traders and industrialists, and facilitate the smooth flow of goods.
The meeting did not overlook the impact of rising fuel prices on the increasing costs of production and goods transportation. Board members expressed hope for a decrease in fuel prices as soon as possible, emphasizing its crucial role in lowering production costs. This, in turn, would positively impact and improve citizens' purchasing power on one hand, and enable Syrian commodities to compete effectively in foreign markets on the other
