Damascus Chamber of Industry Participates in Designing the National Public Works Program and Signing a MOU with the ILO
The Syrian capital hosted a significant event reflecting the state's direction toward enhancing economic planning and the labor market. The Damascus Chamber of Industry and its Countryside, represented by its Chairman, Eng. Mohammad Ayman Al-Moulawi, participated in the national consultative workshop to design the "National Public Works Program in Syria."
The participation took place in the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Ms. Hind Kabawat, alongside several ministers and representatives of international organizations operating in Syria. This falls within joint efforts to boost economic development and improve the labor market reality.
On the sidelines of the workshop's conclusion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Planning and Statistics Commission and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The agreement aims to implement the "National Labor Force Survey" project in Syria, which is considered a fundamental step in providing accurate data to support the formulation of economic and social policies.
This step is one of the outcomes of the workshop organized by the Syria Trust for Development in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. Discussions focused on establishing the foundations of a national public works program that contributes to job creation and improving living standards, in line with the country's economic recovery priorities.
Additionally, a meeting was held during the workshop including the Chairman of the Damascus Chamber of Industry, Eng. Mohammad Ayman Al-Moulawi, Dr. Ruba Jaradat (ILO Regional Director for Arab States), Mr. Fawaz Al-Assad (President of the General Federation of Trade Unions), and Mr. Mohammad Anas Sabe' (ILO Country Coordinator for Syria). They discussed various avenues of cooperation with the ILO regarding vocational training across all industrial sectors
