Damascus Chamber of Industry Launches the Third Phase of the SIYB Program to Support Small Businesses
As part of its relentless efforts to consolidate the culture of entrepreneurship, the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry confirms its steady progress in implementing the global program "Start and Improve Your Business" (SIYB) in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO). The Chamber's continuation in this program reflects its keenness to transform entrepreneurial ideas into promising and sustainable projects by qualifying and training entrepreneurs according to the highest international standards.
The third phase of the program was launched in the presence of Eng. Wafaa Abu Labdeh, a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors and Head of the Industrial Businesswomen Committee. She emphasized that this phase of the training program is directed towards supporting and developing small and micro enterprises in cooperation with the ILO. Eng. Wafaa Abu Labdeh explained that this stage gains special importance because it targets already existing projects. She pointed out that this training comes within the framework of the developmental role undertaken by the Chamber to assist owners of small projects and industries, expressing her hope that the training will achieve its desired goals and create a practical impact that contributes to developing these projects and elevating them from mere small businesses to larger, more growing, and expanding industrial facilities.
The course is supervised by certified trainer Majd Mansour, who explained that the program moves participants from the stage of daily crisis management in small enterprises to the stage of systematic planning and growth creation. He noted that the training is not limited to theoretical presentations, but rather focuses on the core drivers of company success through six specialized training packages implemented over five days. These packages include: people management and productivity to build committed teams, applying the marketing mix to enhance customer loyalty, purchasing and inventory control to protect capital from waste, record keeping as a pillar for financial decision-making, accurate costing to protect profit margins, and comprehensive business planning based on clear figures and plans
