Damascus Chamber of Industry Discusses Securing Gas Supplies for Industrial Plants
The Energy and Natural Gas Committee at the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry held an extensive meeting chaired by Mr. Moataz Tarabichi, Vice President of the Chamber. The meeting was attended by Mr. Adham Al-Tabba, Treasurer of the Chamber, and Eng. Mohammad Balloul, Head of Operations at the Syrian Gas Company, to discuss infrastructure development and securing energy needs for factories.
During the meeting, Mr. Moataz Tarabichi emphasized that cooperation with the Ministry of Petroleum is a strategic step to provide gas to industrial zones, helping to accelerate production and reduce operational costs. The technical details of the Gas Pipeline Project (Deir Ali - Kiswah), spanning 21 km with a 20-inch diameter, were reviewed. The daily requirement for industrial facilities in that area is estimated at approximately 140,000 cubic meters.
For his part, Eng. Mohammad Balloul highlighted the vital importance of reviving this project, noting that it requires significant investment and precise logistical coordination. In conclusion, the committee proposed various financing alternatives, including cooperation with international organizations such as the UNDP, launching the project as a public joint-stock company, or partnering with specialized foreign firms to ensure implementation
