Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry Supports Small Businesses Through Nastex and Cirrex Amman Exhibitions
The Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry is leading a new initiative to support small and micro-enterprises through distinguished participation in the Nastex Exhibition in Damascus and Cirrex Amman in Jordan, aiming to strengthen the presence of Syrian women's products in local and international markets.
Engineer Wafaa Abu Labda, Member of the Chamber's Board of Directors and Head of the Women Industrial Entrepreneurs Committee, chaired an expanded meeting with committee members to develop a comprehensive action plan for an innovative participation under a dedicated pavilion at major local and regional exhibitions. The initiative aims to provide direct support and a modern marketing vision for small businesses.
During the meeting, Maya Al-Taqi, representative of the organizing committee of the Nastex Exhibition, announced the allocation of a strategic section for small and micro-enterprises within the clothing industry pavilion at the Damascus Fairgrounds. The 33-square-meter space is designed to showcase products professionally and facilitate effective interaction with visitors and buyers.
Al-Taqi explained that selecting the clothing sector instead of the traditional handicrafts section reflects a strategic vision to integrate handmade products into the labor market and transform them into sustainable investment opportunities.
For her part, Engineer Wafaa Abu Labda emphasized the importance of transforming handicrafts from traditional activities into an organized economic sector. She revealed ongoing efforts to establish a legal framework for handmade products by coordinating with relevant ministries and authorities to issue commercial and industrial registrations and supportive regulations that empower women artisans.
She also stressed the importance of blending Syrian heritage with contemporary designs to enhance the economic and cultural value of handmade products. She noted that the objective of participation extends beyond direct sales to presenting an elegant image that reflects the quality of Syrian craftsmanship and positions it as a cultural ambassador at international exhibitions and diplomatic events.
The participating businesswomen affirmed their commitment to presenting products that combine authenticity with innovation while maintaining exceptional quality capable of competing in international markets despite rising production costs.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for participation in the Cirrex Amman Exhibition, representing another strategic step toward expanding the international presence of Syrian handmade products and transforming temporary exhibition participation into sustainable economic opportunities.
Preparations have focused on creating an attractive visual identity for the exhibition pavilion, ensuring outstanding product quality, showcasing exclusive handmade pieces that reflect the individuality of each participant, and enabling direct sales alongside product displays.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to intensive preparations to present Syrian products in a manner worthy of their reputation. Participants described the exhibitions as an important opportunity to assess international market requirements and pave the way for future participation with independent pavilions at major global exhibitions.
The Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry also invites visitors to its pavilion at the Beauty World Exhibition, which will be held at the Damascus Fairgrounds from July 9 to July 12, 2026, to discover the latest products and initiatives supporting Syrian small businesses and handmade industries
