Turin – ItalyThe Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry, represented by Board Member and Head of the Chemical Sector Eng. Wafaa Abu Labdeh, participated in the international training course titled "Governance and Management for Integrated Social Security in the Arab Region," held in Turin, Italy.This participation aligns with the Chamber's ongoing efforts to enhance the industrial sector's role in socio-economic development and adopt global best practices in good governance. It also aims to develop social dialogue tools and deepen coordination between the private sector and social protection institutions, ensuring a more inclusive and sustainable social security system in the Arab region.The training session features broad regional participation, including delegations from Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Oman, and Turkey.The program's agenda focuses on several strategic pillars, most notably:Innovating Reform Mechanisms: Exploring new solutions to enhance the financial and institutional sustainability of social security systems.Expanding Protection Coverage: Extending insurance coverage to broader segments of workers across various economic sectors to foster social justice.Developing Legislation and Governance: Reviewing policies, institutional arrangements, and updating regulatory frameworks.Improving Operational Efficiency: Enhancing the performance of social protection institutions to increase resilience against labor market fluctuations and economic challenges.In a statement, Eng. Wafaa Abu Labdeh emphasized that the Chamber's presence in this international forum reflects the Syrian industrial sector's commitment to supporting sustainable development paths. It also contributes to building a stable business environment through learning from leading governance practices. She added that developing legislative and operational frameworks equips countries to better overcome economic crises, reaffirming that the Chamber will continue engaging in international programs that reinforce industry's role as an active partner in comprehensive development
