Cooperation Discussed Between the Chamber of Industry and Social Insurance

Mr. Imad Taha Al-Qasim, Chairman of the Aleppo Chamber of Industry, discussed today with Mr. Ahmad Haj Hamidi, Director of the Social Insurance Institution branch in Aleppo, ways to enhance joint cooperation in a manner that preserves state funds and safeguards the rights of industrialists and workers.

The Chairman of the Chamber of Industry pointed out that everyone realizes the importance of the Social Insurance Institution on multiple levels. However, it is necessary to develop its work mechanisms and amend the law governing it so that it becomes more dynamic in serving industrialists and workers and collecting state dues. He highlighted the need to abolish the penalty of imprisonment for industrialists or facility owners—which was included in the previous law—and replace it with appropriate administrative and legal procedures. He also emphasized the necessity of joint cooperation regarding provisional seizure decisions and notifying the Chamber before they are issued. This would allow the Chamber, in turn, to communicate with industrialists to pay their due amounts, given the complexity of the procedures required to lift a seizure after it has been issued. He called for developing the institution's tools and treating the industrialist as a true partner.

Al-Qasim noted that the Chamber has prepared a comprehensive memorandum regarding the required amendments to the Social Insurance Law, which has been submitted to the relevant authorities.

For his part, the Director of Social Insurance expressed the Institution's keenness to bridge the gap with industrialists and facilitate their affairs, ensuring that the Institution serves as a support for them rather than a tool of pressure. He indicated a readiness to cooperate with the Chamber regarding seizure decisions, the issue of labor registration, and the establishment of a one-stop shop to serve industrialists and traders and complete their transactions easily and smoothly.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized enhancing and spreading insurance culture and agreed to organize a dialogue workshop to address everything related to the institution's work
