Chairman of the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Industry Discusses with UNDP Support for the Industrial Sector and Exports

Dr. Mazen Deirwan, Chairman of the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Industry, received a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Syria. The delegation was represented by Mr. Hassan Falaha, Team Leader of the Inclusive Growth and Finance Programme, and Mr. Nour Sabbagh, Supervisor of the Inclusive Growth and Finance Programme, in the presence of Mr. Khaldoun Dado, Director of the Federation.
Mr. Hassan outlined the programme's operations in Syria through sustainable development projects, focusing on a comprehensive portfolio that includes energy, environment, climate, governance, the rule of law, and peacebuilding. He also highlighted the ongoing work on projects designed to support the electricity sector within Syrian industrial cities. Additionally, he noted the presence of entrepreneurship funding projects and feasible loans aimed at restoring damaged industrial facilities, as well as current efforts to establish a specialized export academy.
Dr. Mazen expressed his appreciation for the programme's efforts in supporting industrialists. He proposed designating a specific focal point between the Federation and the programme to ensure optimal reach to beneficiaries of the financing programme, in cooperation with the Syrian Chambers of Industry. The two sides also discussed mechanisms to boost the export of Syrian products globally by leveraging external support from the programme to identify distribution channels, alongside the Federation's readiness to actively participate in the development of the export academy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees focused on discussing the outcomes of the Private Sector Conference recently organized by the programme, while initiating preparations for an upcoming conference to be developed in partnership with Syrian private sector entities
