Assessment and Artificial Intelligence: The Compass of Industrial Sustainability and Facility Development

Industrial development is no longer a luxury or a secondary path; rather, it has transformed into a survival strategy and an absolute necessity for companies striving for leadership. In this context, and to reaffirm the importance of keeping pace with global technological transformations, the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry held a workshop titled "Assessment... Industrial Sustainability and the Compass of Success." The workshop was attended by Eng. Muhammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi, Chairman of the Chamber, and Mr. Wasim Saad, Director of the Chamber, alongside a number of industrial facility owners, executive directors, and quality and safety managers interested in enhancing the competitiveness of the national product in both local and international markets.Eng. Muhammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi emphasized that artificial intelligence and comprehensive technical assessment are no longer an optional choice or something that can be overlooked or ignored in industrial work. Instead, they have become a reality adopted by countries worldwide to take a leading and major role in developing their sectors. Al-Mawlawi pointed out that the Chamber had previously organized a seminar focusing on artificial intelligence and another addressing the assessment of job standards. Today, it completes this series with an entirely new experience through which the Chamber looks forward to reviewing modern visions and methodologies to ensure the success of this promising experience in a way that serves the interest and development of all industrial facilities. For his part, the international consultant, Eng. Muhammad Zuhair Kanakrieh, who lectured at the workshop, reviewed the strategic dimensions of the assessment process. He stressed that the technical and administrative assessment of industrial facilities has become one of the most important fundamental factors and effective drivers in reducing waste, improving productivity levels, and raising the efficiency of production lines, in addition to elevating the level and skills of workers in this sector. Eng. Kanakrieh noted that major global companies today rely on this scientific approach, which is primarily based on accredited international references and methodologies, most notably ISO certifications, operational excellence systems, and asset and equipment safety and preservation strategies. Kanakrieh also explained that the assessment process is currently one of the hottest and most heavily discussed topics on the global industrial stage, where major international consulting firms are active, which requires local facilities to follow it closely to develop their production lines and bring them to their maximum efficiency. The workshop focused on a group of pivotal themes that concern industrialists today. Most notably: measuring factory readiness and operational efficiency according to the highest standards; how early assessment detects waste and weaknesses and prevents them from turning into major crises; explaining the reasons international companies require assessment as a prerequisite before partnership, financing, or export; and how assessment contributes to sound planning and proper decision-making based on international methodologies (operational excellence, safety and asset reliability, and risk-based assessment)
