This morning, a delegation from the Economic Recovery Department at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) visited the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting focused on aspects of cooperation in economic recovery, the challenges facing economic activities, and proposals to overcome them.Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, Chairman of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presented an overview of the Chamber's operations and its sectoral committees. He highlighted the significant damage suffered by economic facilities in Daraa Governorate and the continuous efforts to revitalize all sectors of the economy. He also emphasized the importance of partnership with international organizations to accelerate economic recovery.The discussion touched upon the governorate's outstanding agricultural activity and its related agro-industrial production facilities, such as olive presses, canning factories, dairy and cheese plants, carpet and fodder factories, and cold storage and refrigeration units.Furthermore, it was noted that the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry places special emphasis on training programs. These initiatives aim to build youth capacity and develop their skills across various professional and commercial fields, contributing to their empowerment for entering the labor market.The meeting was attended alongside the Chairman, Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, by Mr. Youssef Al-Masalmeh (Vice Chairman of the Chamber), Mr. Mohammad Al-Omari (Secretary of the Chamber), Ahmad Kharmandi (Chamber Director), Dr. Adel Al-Siyasneh (Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection), and Eng. Khaled Al-Atmeh (Director of Industry). The DRC delegation included Ms. Dion Petresby (Technical Officer for the Recovery Department in the Middle East), Abdullah Hourani (Head of the Department in Syria), Thaer Al-Matarneh (Team Leader of the Department in Jordan), and Muhannad Abdullah (Team Leader of the Department in the Southern Region)
